Lead Connections
Become an approved
NHS Abatement contractor
New York City's Local Law 1
(August 2004) requires:
- Building owners to reduce lead hazards in apartments
- The use of safe work practices for repairs and maintenance
- Training of residential building workers disturbing lead paint
- Use of dust clearance testing
All workers who will disturb or repair a painted surface need to be trained, including but not limited to:
- Painters who scrape or sand painted surfaces
- Plumbers and electricians who disturb painted surfaces to reach pipes or electrical wires
- Superintendents, maintenance personnel, mechanics, window repairers, window installers, renovators and other building workers who will work on painted surfaces within the building

Lead abatement is required for projects where a child with an elevated blood level is found, on subsidized housing projects that exceed $25,000, and for all renovations in public housing.
Receive FREE training
All contractors, supervisors and employees participating in Lead Connections are eligible to receive FREE Lead Abatement Worker training and FREE Lead Supervisor training.
