  • Make Western New York a healthier place to live

Lead Connections provides the following services at no charge to eligible participants:

  • Paint and materials
  • Plastic sheeting for containing dust
  • Cleaners and cleaning supplies
  • Equipment rentals - hand tools and HEPA-filtered vacuums
  • Personal Protective Equipment - Tyvek suits and respirators
  • Presumptive inspection - free property assessment to determine needs
  • A list of contractors who offer discount rates
  • Risk assessment and inspection

The Leadconnections.org web site offers information for everyone who may be concerned about lead poisoning.

Lead may present a hazard in the home, in school and at the job site and home owners, parents, teachers, and employers need to know how unnecessary exposure to lead hazards can be eliminated.

Specialized skills are necessary for individuals who expect to perform property maintenance and rehabilitation in a manner that does not create lead hazards or leave lead dust behind. Our Lead Safe Work Practices Training is presented every Tuesday in Buffalo and two Thursdays a month in Niagara Falls, NY.

This USHUD approved course includes classroom presentations and 'hands-on" practical exercises. Topics include health effects, regulations, project planning, materials, equipment and clearance testing.

Lead Connections also sponsors a series of events on lead hazard control and other urban environmental health issues. Community Connections brings participants, partners and other parties together on a regular basis to promote program goals.

Lead Connections is brought to you by Environmental Education Associates, Home Depot, Independent Health Foundation, Belmont Shelter Corporation and the City of Niagara Falls Office of Leased Housing. The project is partially funded through the USHUD Office of Healthy Homes & Lead Hazard Control.
