We are Lead Connections.

The state of lead
in New York.

Starting in November 2025, New York State Public Health Law 1377 will require property owners of residential dwellings with two or more units built prior to 1980 to join a rental registry program designed to identify and eradicate lead hazards.

In addition to joining this registry, property owners must undergo a certification process every three years to verify that their property is lead-free. This includes a yearly property inspection. Properties that do not pass inspection will continue to be reinspected until they are certified lead-free. Failure to certify a property as being lead-free will result in penalties or make them ineligible to list as a rental.

Lead compliance tips for property owners.

  • Stay on top of your yearly property inspection.
  • If lead is discovered within your property, develop a plan of action immediately.
  • Get connected with the EPA-certified lead inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement specialists you need to remediate any lead that is present in your property.
